Lisa White, Ph.D.
Lisa recently joined the Reflection Sciences team as a Professional Development Specialist. She completed her Ph.D. in Applied Developmental Psychology at the University of Miami, where she worked with Dr. Daryl Greenfield. The focus of her work is to identify and measure school readiness across cognitive, socioemotional, and academic domains for children from low-income backgrounds to help inform early education efforts. A large part of her research examines executive functioning (EF) development and culturally and linguistically responsive classroom instruction for young Spanish- and English-speaking Dual Language Learners (DLLs) in Head Start. Additionally, she has helped promote the use of early science education as a framework to support young children’s learning across domains, including EF, and has worked with early educators to help inform, design, and implement science education strategies in the classroom. Lisa is particularly interested in the use of high quality, hands-on, minds-on instruction in the early childhood classroom to help foster young children’s curiosity, excitement about learning, and overall development.
