Elanna Yalow, Ph.D., M.B.A.
Dr. Elanna Yalow is Chief Executive Officer of KinderCare Education (KCE), Early Learning Programs, and Chief Academic Officer. KCE is the nation’s leading private provider of high quality early childhood education, serving over 160,000 children from infants through school age in approximately 2,000 locations. She has over 25 years of experience with the company. In her capacity, Dr. Yalow is responsible for the development of KCE’s educational programs as well as quality and accreditation initiatives and public policy. Previously she had worked extensively in support of global education programs in Singapore, Malaysia, the United Kingdom, and India. Dr. Yalow is also highly experienced in center operations, training, marketing, and business development, mergers and acquisitions, and new center development.
Prior to joining KCE, Dr. Yalow was Associate Director of IOX Assessment Associates, serving as Project Director for numerous state and national research and development projects in both educational assessment and health education for agencies including the National Institutes of Health, Office of Disease Prevention/Health Promotion, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and numerous State Departments of Education.
Dr. Yalow has published and presented extensively on issues related to education and health in publications including the Annual Review of Health Promotion and Education, Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, Educational Researcher, Handbook of Human Intelligence, Contemporary Education Review, Personnel Psychology and Curator. She has served as a speaker at the National Association for the Education of Young Children, the Education Writers Association, Parenting Magazine’s Mom Congress, the Milken Institute Global Conference, the Hechinger Institute Seminars on Education and the Media, the World Forum on Early Care and Education, NBC’s Education Nation Summit, and Child Care Aware. She has made numerous presentations on assessment and evaluation in the education and health care arenas at the American Psychological Association, Psychometric Society, National Council of Measurement in Education, and the American Educational Research Association. She has also served as a lecturer at California State University, Long Beach.
Dr. Yalow has testified on Capitol Hill before the House Education and Workforce Committee on the importance of quality early childhood education. She participated in the White House conference, “Federal, State, and Local Efforts to Bridge the Word Gap,” as well as the White House Summit on Early Education.
Dr. Yalow holds a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from the Stanford University School of Education, an M.B.A. from Stanford University Graduate School of Business, and a B.A. in Psychology from the State University of NY at Stony Brook, where she was Phi Beta Kappa. She serves on the Board of Directors for Guardian Early Learning Group in Australia and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. She is a member of the Education Advisory Board for K12 Inc., the Reflection Sciences Advisory Board, the National Childhood Obesity Foundation, and the World Forum International Organizing Committee. She served on the Board of Directors of Busy Bees Child Care in the U.K. until its sale in 2013 to Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan.
Dr. Yalow is married and the mother of two sons. She is the daughter of the late Dr. Rosalyn Yalow, 1977 Nobel Laureate in Physiology or Medicine.
